Cyril Brown was an ordinary working Jamaican, who hit a small jack-pot and so got his name, and his picture,
in the Gleaner on August 4th 1911.

Cyril Brown's winnings represented probably between
four and six months wages for an ordinary labourer, but I do not think there are any estimates of the earnings of an independent
operator, such as a drayman. Perhaps someone could give a figure?
